A child was reportedly bitten by a mountain lion outside a Malibu home Sunday, officials confirmed to KTLA.

Details are limited and it's unclear how the frightening wildlife encounter occurred, but officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lost Hills Station said deputies responded to the 32500 block of Pacific Coast Highway shortly after 5:30 p.m. on reports of the incident.

Neither the age nor the gender of the child is known at this time, but officials said that the minor suffered a bite wound to the arm and that the mountain lion was still on the property some 15 minutes after the attack.

Crews with the Los Angeles County Fire Department also responded to the scene, where they remained until at least 7 p.m.
