BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - A South Mississippi singer-songwriter whose debut album was inspired by Hurricane Katrina is back in the recording studio in honor of the storm’s 20th anniversary.
“Clearing the Debris” is Scott Niolet’s first commercial music project. The cover art of the album is a photo taken in the aftermath of Katrina. Some of the album’s tracks, like Monday Afternoon Rain, are a direct result of the storm.
“We were on the side of the road in Dothan, Alabama, trying to get back into Pass Christian,” Niolet recalled. “It was a Monday, it was raining, and the first couple of verses just came to me. It’s a tale of heartbreak.”
