THE Dallas Cowboys have suffered a major blow less than a month before the start of the new NFL season.

The former American football powerhouses, like most teams, have been hard at work in pre-season training over the last few weeks.

But training camp has sadly scuppered new signing Rob Jones' first season with the franchise.

It's emerged that right guard Jones has suffered a BROKEN NECK and will be out for the duration of the season.

Jones broke a bone in his neck in the Cowboys' first padded practice of training camp late last month.

He was, according to ESPN , initially given a "two-to-three-month" recovery period.

The uncertainty over his fitness led the Cowboys to place him on the injured reserve list.
