Temperatures across Massachusetts could cross 90 degrees on Monday as heat and humidity return to the Bay State.

The surging temperatures on Monday are part of a broader warming trend in the state, which is expected to persist through Wednesday. But National Weather Service forecasters say they don’t expect to issue a heat advisory as the heat won’t be as oppressive as earlier this summer.

Still, there is a chance heat indices, or “feels like” temperatures, approach the criteria for an advisory by reaching between 95 and 100 for two or more hours. It will be warmest in usual “hot spots” across Massachusetts like the Merrimack Valley and the suburbs southwest of Boston.
