Joe Milton ’s Dallas Cowboys tenure got off to a bumpy start.

The former New England Patriots quarterback was pulled from the game as an injury precaution and was pretty tough on himself for his performance.

“If I was grading myself, definitely a D, probably a D- if I’m being hard on myself,” he said after the game .

Milton got the start for Dallas in their preseason-opening loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He was rough out of the gate, starting out with a pair of three-and-out drives. Overall, he wasn’t particularly efficient through the air, finishing 17-of-29 passing for 143 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

Milton said he started to smooth things out as the game progressed. However, he notes that he needs to do a better job of starting games.
