WALDOBORO, Maine — A 53-year-old woman was found dead in her Waldoboro home Saturday morning, and her death has been ruled a homicide, according to Maine State Police.

The Waldoboro Police Department said it received a 911 call around 8:25 a.m. from a person checking on the well-being of a woman living on Genthner Road. Officers and Lincoln County sheriff's deputies responded and found the woman dead inside her home.

Waldoboro police requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-Central, which began an investigation.

Maine State Police identified the victim as 53-year-old Levern Kelley of Waldoboro. She was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. The manner of her death was determined to be a homicide following an autopsy conducted Sunday afternoon
