CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — People gathered in Jellico to welcome one of their newest neighbors to town Thursday evening.
Three-year-old Levi "Boog" Wallen rode with his father, grandmother and other family members through town, escorted by first responders and cheered on by around a dozen people.
Mary Jane Wallen, Levi's grandmother, said it was the first time Levi had seen his hometown after being born with a rare, life-threatening condition that kept him in intensive care for about three years.
"1,333 days in the hospital. We're home! Never thought it would be this big, but we're thankful. We're thankful for the community," Mary Jane said.
