Two teenage girls have been arrested on suspicion of arson after the former Raven Hotel in Droitwich caught fire.

The teenagers, aged 13 and 14, were arrested on suspicion of arson and have since been released on bail.

The Raven Hotel in Droitwich Spa was undergoing a redevelopment before a large fire began yesterday afternoon.

The building was in use as a pub for a large part of its history and is considered by Historic England as a place of special architectural and historic interest.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "Police attended a large fire at the Raven Hotel on St Andrews Street in Droitwich around 4:45pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday 10 August).

"It was believed the fire had been started deliberately but thankfully nobody has been injured.
