KENTWOOD, La. (WVUE) - Deputies arrested a man in the Kentwood area Friday (Aug. 8) who is accused of driving recklessly to chase down a vehicle with a woman and child inside.

Johnathan Newman, 40, was booked on one count each of stalking, reckless operation of a vehicle, and obstructing a highway.

Earlier that week, deputies say that a woman was driving along Highway 38 when she encountered a parked vehicle in the road. The woman told deputies that a man charged at her vehicle as she went to turn back the way she came. Deputies say that’s when Newman got back into his driver’s seat and pursued the woman’s vehicle at speeds over 100 mph.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office wants anyone with information about Newman to call 985-345-6150 to speak with detectives.
