LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A longtime violin program in west Louisville held a special concert.

The community was invited to enjoy live music from students who attend West Louisville Talent Education Center (WESTEC) – also known as “The Blue House” in the Parkland neighborhood.

For nearly 30 years, instructor Keith Cook has taught students to read and play classical music from composers like Wolfgang Mozart.

The goal of the program is to provide arts education for at-risk youth using stringed instrument instruction while promoting excellence in music, academics and social areas.

The Blue House announced expansions like a new and free Pre-K initiative aimed at supporting early childhood education in west Louisville.
