A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the Aug. 7 shots fired incident near bus stops on the first day of class for Jefferson County Public Schools, according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police.

The juvenile, who was arrested Aug. 8, was charged with 33 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of possession of a handgun by a minor, LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.

The shooting occurred near the 1000 block of West Chestnut Street around 8:07 a.m. Aug. 7. Several callers reported hearing gunshots fired in the Russell neighborhood, but officers did not find any victims.

Investigators believed the shooter ran from the scene immediately after firing the shots, LMPD spokesperson Matthew Sanders said in an Aug. 7 statement.
