BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sewer announced it will begin pile driving on Monday at the Bird Island Treatment Plant to install foundations for odor control systems and other infrastructure.

The project, which is expected to finish Sep. 12, is part of a $250 million investment of Queen City Clean Waters $1 billion initiative to reduce combined sewer overflows in area waterways.

Crews will only work during weekday hours from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

“We want to get word out about this important work to our stakeholders, including our neighbors in Canada as it will require the driving of steel piles into the bedrock resulting in low level hammering noise,” said Rosaleen Nogle, PE, Principal Sanitary Engineer for Buffalo Sewer. “The work also is going to be visible from the I-190, Niagara Street,
