ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A non-profit organization has started a fundraiser for a South Carolina Highway Patrolman struck after a traffic stop on Interstate 26 early Sunday morning.
Serve and Connect has partnered with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, South Carolina Highway Patrol, and several other agencies to support Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks after he was critically injured.
TFC Ricks was struck by a box truck during a traffic stop on I-26 near mile marker 166 in Orangeburg County around 2 a.m. Sunday.
According to a social post from his wife, Jade Ricks, he suffered a severe brain injury, bleeding, swelling, kidney bleeding, several broken bones in his lower back, and more.
