A massive fire tore through a Maryland BBQ food truck early Saturday morning, causing $100,000 in damage and scorching a nearby home, officials said.
The blaze broke out at around 5:47 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, in the 14900 block of Mt. Savage Road in Mt. Savage, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Investigators said the fire started inside a 2025 Savage BBQ food truck trailer owned by Larry Thomas Snyder. The truck was parked next to a home when the flames erupted, sending heat into the outside of the residence.
A passerby picking up a family member next door spotted the fire and alerted the occupants inside the home, who were then able to safely evacuate, officials said.
It took 35 firefighters from the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Department about 20 minutes to bring the one-alarm blaze under control.
No injuries were reported — but the damage will be felt for some time.
However, Savage BBQ will be closed until further notice, according to the owners.
"It is sad to announce that we will be closed until further notice. We had a fire overnight that destroyed our trailer," they said. "We want to thank everyone for understanding our situation."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
