Multiple fights broke out Sunday at the entrance to the Ecuadorian festival in Newark, resulting in summonses for three people, authorities said

No one was hurt in the scuffles, which started around 5:45 p.m. in the area of Ferry and Union streets, Newark police said.

Police temporarily closed the festival to disperse the crowd in the area.

The festival followed a parade in the Ironbound section of the city and was expected to draw about 50,000 people.
