FONDA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- After a recent spike in potential rabies exposures, the Montgomery County Health Department has issued a warning. The department said it has gotten 13 calls in the last week regarding animal contacts.

The animals that have been deemed necessary for rabies testing have tested negative, but the department still urges residents to be careful because a negative result does not always eliminate the risk for rabies. The department is waiting for three additional animal test results as well.
