LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Thousands of students and teachers across the Laredo area started the new school year today, Monday, August 11, with Laredo Independent School District (LISD) leading the way as the first public district back in session.

Early this morning, LISD welcomed students at Ryan Elementary, where the atmosphere was calm but anticipation grew as the first bell was set to ring at 7:30 a.m. Campus staff and teachers have been preparing for weeks to ensure a smooth start, and school leadership expressed confidence in building on last year’s successes.
