Fire crews in the Kawartha Lakes region continue to work to get wildfires under control.
As of Monday, August 11, 2025, 27 hectares of forest remain actively burning in the Burnt River area.
According to the Kawartha Lakes Fire Department, seven fire crews are working to contain the fire. An air attack was conducted yesterday and is available today if required. Crews are making headway; however, hot and dry conditions persist, and potential for wind could worsen the situation. The public is requested to please avoid the area to allow emergency vehicles and personnel to access the area.
According to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, there are 17 active fires in the Northeast Region of Ontario; 4 are under control, two are not under control, and 11 are being observed.
