MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. — Drivers in Gloucester and Mathews counties should prepare for a traffic pattern change this week as part of ongoing bridge rehabilitation along John Clayton Memorial Highway.
Beginning Wednesday morning, traffic will be shifted onto a new bridge deck over Burke Mill Stream, near the intersection of Routes 3 and 14, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Crews will begin the transition around 8 a.m., moving vehicles off previously shifted lanes that were in use during earlier stages of construction. New lane markings, signage, and traffic barrels will help guide drivers through the updated traffic pattern.
