COLUMBUS, Ohio — The preseason AP Top 25 was released Monday, solidifying Ohio State vs. Texas football as a marquee matchup to open the 2025 campaign.

The Buckeyes were ranked No. 3 in the poll. Only, No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Penn State ranked ahead of OSU.

OSU hasn’t been the preseason No. 1 team since 2015.

Ohio State has been ranked in the AP Top 25 across 80 consecutive polls — a streak which dates back to 2020.

If not for unusual circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Ohio State’s streak of appearances in the AP poll would likely date back to 2011.

It would be the second-longest streak in the country, with Alabama appearing in every AP Top 25 since 2008.
