Police arrested a 20-year-old man in the death of a woman found inside a Southeast Portland home on Sunday.
Leonel Macias is accused of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, according to court records. Portland police said Macias called 911 at 6:30 p.m. to report that a woman was dead in the home.
Tactical officers from the bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene in the 2600 block of Southeast 170th Avenue. The team knocked open the front door and found the woman dead and removed her from the home, police said.
Police said Macias remained inside and refused to leave. A two-hour standoff ensued before he surrendered around 9 p.m.
Macias was sent to a hospital and was later booked into the Multnomah County Detention Cen
