LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Ford executives rolled out a star-studded announcement presentation for what the company is calling a “Model-T Moment.”

The manufacturer announced the Ford Universal EV Production System and the Ford Universal EV Platform, a strategy to build electric vehicles in America.

The first vehicle that will be produced under those plans is a midsized, four-door electric pickup truck assembled at the Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP) beginning in 2027. Ford is investing approximately $5 billion and creating nearly 4,000 jobs across two US plants for the truck and the batteries that will power it.

Of that investment and job creation, $1.9 billion will go to LAP, creating 2,200 full-time jobs.
