A non-profit organization that serves developmentally challenged adults took another big stride Sunday, thanks to 255 runners in the annual Great Raisin River Footrace.

The 46th Great Raisin River Footrace has benefited Beyond 21 since 2019. This year the event raised around $100,000, after collecting about $21,000 this year.

Many of the participants had enough energy left to embrace and high-five each other.

Among them was first-timer Adalynne de Wit, who hugged her mom, Sascha, after they and dad, Alex, crossed the line at the north entrance of the Williamstown Fairgrounds.

“I’m so grateful, it was a big moment for me,” Sascha said.

Adalynne admitted she was “tired” after completing the five-kilometre distance.
