CARMEL, Ind. — Life works in mysterious ways. Just ask Indiana native Adam Bennett.

In 2015, he was a strong marathoner. He spent decades coaching high school cross country and track.

"I've done a dozen or more half-marathons," Adam said. "I ran the Indy Mini a lot. Four or five marathons."

Despite feeling great physically, Adam was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis , or MS, on Sept. 10, 2015. MS is a chronic autoimmune disease that attacks the central nervous system of the body.

"There was fear, uncertainty, anger," Adam said. "It was just kind of a shocking day."

Adam didn't let the diagnosis slow him down . In fact, he set out to achieve his biggest running goal yet: to run the entire circumference of the earth by the 10-year anniversary of his diagnosis.
