NEW YORK (PIX11) — President Donald Trump Monday announced his administration is assuming control of the Washington, D.C. police department and deploying the National Guard-- and New York City could be next.
"Then I'm going to look at New York," Trump said. "Let's do this together and we'll see—it's going to go pretty quickly."
The president's remarks came with a clear warning to other major cities, particularly those led by Democrats, urging them to abandon policies like cashless bail. “Other cities are watching, and maybe they'll self-clean up and get rid of the cashless bail and all the other things that cause the problem,” he said.
New York’s cashless bail reform, passed in 2019 to prevent pretrial incarceration of low-income individuals, has remained controversial. Though the polic
