Farms, food, and security highlight Congressman Thompsons annual agriculture summit

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – Agriculture is one of the Commonwealth’s biggest industries, helping feed millions across the country.

At the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology, Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson hosted his seventh annual agriculture summit. Attending the event were representatives from local, state, and federal lawmakers and agriculture leaders. Many topics were discussed during the panel event, including farms, food, and national security.

“There are a lot of other unmet needs, and we heard some of them, education, rural development, food security, and the SNAP issue kinda came back, so I think that's one of the takeaways,” Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russel Redding said.
