A man died in a homicide on St. Paul Street on Friday, and Richmond police have charged a suspect.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot at 2:25 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of St. Paul Street. They located Mario Swann, 37, of Richmond, down and unresponsive on the second-floor landing of an apartment building suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. First responders transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injury on Friday. The medical examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
Detectives identified Jerome Lucas, 34, of Richmond, as the suspect, then located him in the Gilpin Court neighborhood at 6:50 p.m. on Friday and detained him without incident. The Richmond Police Department charged him with possession of a firearm by a felon and shooting
