MONTVILLE, Maine (WABI) - Residents of Montville continue to seek answers after 39 headstones were vandalized and destroyed in Halldale Cemetery.

Now, a $2,000 is being offered for information leading to a conviction.

Town officials say whoever damaged the headstones also broke numerous flags at veterans’ graves.

Some of the graves in the cemetery are of those who fought in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the cemetery’s committee at nanatha19@gmail.com as well as the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
