HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- President Donald Trump’s plan to pass a 100% tariff on imported computer chips and semiconductors could have a ripple effect in the Grand Strand area.

Myrtle Beach is not a semiconductor and computer chip manufacturing hub; however, with the Grand Strand being a heavy tourism area, relying on industries like the service and hospitality industry -- which rely on the use of chip devices -- the 100% tariff could still have a large impact.

Most of the chips the U.S. imports are already built into other products. They’re everywhere, from ordering systems at restaurants to hotel check-in desks, and even cars.
