BATON ROUGE, La. — Students at Jefferson Terrace Academy in Baton Rouge weren't the only ones learning lessons Monday morning.
U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon also stopped by to gain some insights as she launched her "Returning Education to the States" initiative in Louisiana. McMahon said she wants to learn what states are doing to improve K-12 education.
"States like Louisiana that we've already seen who came up out of COVID and had the highest reading scores from there than any other state, and it has been just an incredible example of what can happen on a local level by superintendents who understand their school systems," McMahon told WWL Louisiana.
