ATLANTA — Two weeks after a cyberattack took Georgia’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) call center offline, the system remains shut down. Meanwhile, some families say they’re unable to access their benefits.
The disruption comes after the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) said bots attempted to attack the state’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) call system on July 28, prompting the agency to ask third-party vendor Conduent to shut it down.
SNAP cardholders use the IVR call system to check account balances and monitor card transactions.
A select group of EBT cards was also locked following the attack. But the effort to lock and secure cards is leaving some families temporarily stuck.
