BEAUMONT, Texas — The Beaumont City Council is set to take a final vote Tuesday on whether to separate several "controversial" items from its upcoming bond package , allowing residents to decide on them individually in November, accoridng to Councilman Cory Crenshaw.

Crenshaw said the move comes after residents voiced concerns during the bond workshop Monday.

“You spoke and I listened!!” Crenshaw wrote in a Facebook post. “It’s looking like my proposal to have some controversial items separated from bond categories for folks to vote on individually will happen.”

Crenshaw said he wants projects such as the Dowlen Road expansion to I-10 and the Pointe Parkway extension to 105 to be voted on separately from general infrastructure funding.
