Days after a 3-year-old girl was found dead in a car in Milford, Maine, authorities have revealed the results of an autopsy.

Maine State Police said Monday that the child, who was found Saturday , likely died from hyperthermia, or elevated body temperature. Authorities noted that additional studies are being conducted on the cause and manner of death.

The girl's mother, 40-year-old Kelly Brown of Havertown, Pennsylvania, has been charged with manslaughter. Police had been looking for both of them after concerned family members requested a welfare check.

Brown appeared at the Penobscot Judicial Center Monday to be formally charged, police said. Bail was set, but police did not name a dollar amount or any conditio
