In what he described as a "perfect storm" draining the resources of his office, Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey requested $1 million of funding from state lawmakers to bolster his prosecution of Karen Read in her second murder trial.

The revelation came amid more than 4,000 pages of Morrissey's emails sent from a private account obtained by NBC10 Boston via public records request late Friday.

Morrissey, a longtime state lawmaker before he was first elected DA in 2010, penned the letter to House Speaker Ronald Mariano in October, just as his office was ramping up for a second murder trial in the high-profile case.
