Maine State Police said the death of a woman in Waldoboro this weekend has been ruled a homicide.

Waldoboro police responded to a 911 call shortly before 8:30 a.m. Saturday to check on the well-being of a woman at a Genthner Road home, state police said.

Officers and deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office arrived to find the woman dead. She was identified as 53-year-old Levern Kelley of Waldoboro.

"The manner of death has been ruled a homicide," state police said Sunday. "The cause of death is not being released at this time. There is no known danger to the public.
