LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A new partnership at Summerlin Hospital with the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation is working to prevent students from falling behind in school.

Beginning in August, the NVCCF, in partnership with Summerlin Hospital, is offering bedside tutoring and educational support for children diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.

The nonprofit provides dozens of free programs and resources to support Southern Nevada families. In 2008, NVCCF opened the first inpatient classroom at Sunrise Children’s Hospital, but the program closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recognizing the importance of the service, NVCCF has once again secured funding, this time through the Brett Torino Foundation, to relaunch the program at a new location.
