LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The Clark County School District is doubling down on its efforts to address traffic, after school police issued almost 4,900 citations last school year, according to records 8 News Now obtained.

At a news conference on Monday marking the first day of school, CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert reiterated the rules of the road in school zones and outlined her commitment to improving safety.

"We're asking our community to rally around traffic. This morning, we had just over a hundred traffic stops and about 50 citations," Ebert said at Fertitta Middle School. "Slow down, we have posted speed limits. Leave early so you and your children are not feeling rushed as you're going through our school zones."
