Homer City Council member Bradley Parsons is the first city resident to file for candidacy for the upcoming municipal election on Oct. 7.
Parsons was appointed to the council last November to fill the vacancy left by then-council member Rachel Lord, after she was elected as Homer’s new mayor. Parson’s appointment was slated to last until this year’s city election. He has filed for candidacy for another one-year term on the council.
Two three-year term seats on the city council, currently belonging to council members Jason Davis and Storm Hansen, are also up for election this year. As of Monday afternoon, no one else had filed for city council candidacy, including Davis and Hansen.
Parson’s candidate statement was listed as pending on the City of Homer website as of Monday afternoon.
