GILLETT, Wis. (WBAY) - Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez visited northeast Wisconsin as part of an effort to keep federal funding for libraries.

This comes after the Department of Education withheld nearly $7 billion in K-12 funding, including funds for school and public library programs.

The agency later released billions in funding after multiple senators reached out to education department leaders, saying withholding those funds could cause staff layoffs and cut programs.

Rodriguez emphasizes the importance of libraries for the community.
