With less than three weeks until the season opener against Florida State, Alabama has yet to name a starting quarterback. However, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, that spot is expected to go toTy Simpson, with an announcement coming soon.

Simpson, a former five-star recruit, has been the favorite to take over the starting quarterback position ever since Jalen Milroe left for the NFL draft. Back in April, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb claimed that Simpson would start if the season began that day . Head coach Kalen DeBoer also echoed those beliefs during summer workouts.
