SWEET HOME Ore. (KPTV) - Firefighters rescued a 14-year-old family dog from a burning home on Monday morning.

Sweet Home Fire was called to the scene of the house fire off Highway 228 about 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Because the house was in an area without a fire hydrant, water tenders were required to shuttle water in to the scene.

During a search of the home, firefighters rescued the dog, a Pomeranian named “Tucker”.

While the home suffered significant damage, none of the occupants were injured from the blaze.

Sweet Home Fire says one firefighter was taken to the hospital for evaluation of a possible heat-related illness.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
