OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - The roof of the Jim Norick Arena, also known as the Big House, was imploded Tuesday morning, marking the end of an era for the historic venue.

Mayor David Holt and former Mayor Ron Norick were there, reflecting on the arena moments before Norick pressed down the plunger to implode the roof.

The implosion was contingent on favorable weather conditions. The arena, named after Jim Norick, father of former Oklahoma City Mayor Ron Norick, has been a staple in the community for six decades, hosting a wide range of events from rodeos to basketball tournaments.
