For decades, Oklahoma's best high school basketball teams have blown the roof off Jim Norick Arena on their way to a state championship.

On Tuesday, Aug. 12, the Big House's big roof will finally come back down.

As part of the continued demolition and replacement of the arena , an implosion of its roof is scheduled for 7:30 a.m.

Along with the annual basketball tournament, State Fair Arena has been home to hockey games, rodeos, concerts and equine events since it opened in 1965.

The arena's design was notable, with its exterior wall formed from 42 concrete columns supporting a roof suspended on a network of cables. When it was completed, it was the largest roof of its type at the time.
