OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — It was a big morning at the state fairgrounds for the Jim Norick Arena. The roof was imploded, marking the next steps in demolition. City leaders and several residents gathered together to enjoy the last memories.

The arena was once a place where thousands of events were held over six decades.

From rodeos to concerts to high school basketball tournaments, millions of people got to enjoy events inside the arena.

What's known as "The Big House" for athletes had a special meaning for former Mayor Ron Norick, as the arena was named after his dad.
