A shop in Stalybridge has been shut down after selling illegal cigarettes, hand rolling tobacco and vapes, the council has said.

Staly Mini Market, on Melbourne Street, has closed after Tameside council obtained a court closure order against the business on August 8.

Since 2021, the town hall’s trading standards team has seized 34,080 illegal cigarettes; 16.95 kg of illegal hand rolling tobacco; and 270 illegal e-cigarettes from the shop, Stockport Magistrates’ Court heard.

The court imposed a three-month closure order.
