A 43-year-old man died Monday afternoon, Aug. 11, after his SUV overturned in the median of West Amarillo Boulevard, police said.
The crash happened around 2:26 p.m. in the 4700 block of West Amarillo Boulevard. According to the Amarillo Police Department, a 2003 GMC Yukon driven by Allen Alexander Armstrong was heading west when it veered off the road to the south.
Armstrong overcorrected, the vehicle lost control, and it rolled into the center median.
Armstrong, the only person in the vehicle, was thrown from the SUV and died at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.
Potter County Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn ordered an autopsy. The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate.
