Sunday late afternoon, the competitors and concession stand operators started rolling past our farm as the 114th edition of the Williamstown Fair closed down.

This included horse and livestock trailers with their hot and sweaty four-legged cargos, cars, SUVs. Vans, pick-up trucks loaded to the gills with the remains of three day’s supplies, and more. Monday the procession will continue as the assorted rides and games, now disassembled and packed up into travel mode, head north for their next gig: the Vankleek Hill Fair, this coming weekend.

After a blistering three days of heat and little breeze, it is all over for another year. Plans for the 115th edition are already dancing in director’s heads though, what worked, what didn’t, and what needs to change or be added. S
