TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Crimson Tide now knows who will start at quarterback as they prepare to kick off the 2025 season against Florida State.

ESPN’s Chris Low reported Monday that the team was told in a meeting that team veteran Ty Simpson will lead the offense to start the season.

Simpson, who spent two years years backing up Jalen Milroe, beat out sophomore Austin Mack and true freshman Keelon Russell.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said in July at SEC Media Days in Atlanta that he really liked the growth he’d seen from Simpson.

“He doesn’t overanalyze... being able to have the mindset of moving on. Just trying to instill that ‘do what you do’, and that’s going to be enough.”
