MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - It’s still to early to say who the next Superintendent will be, but one thing is for sure, it will be a woman.

On Tuesday morning board members from the Manatee County School District made a vote for the two finalists in the running for Superintendent.

In a unanimous decision the finalists are:

Dr. Laurie Breslin, the Executive Director of Student Support & Family Engagement at the School District of Manatee County

Dr. Misty Mathis, the Executive Director of Curriculum at the Nassau County School District

Chad Choate, the Chair of the board told ABC7 that understanding Florida and how the state works played a big part in their decisions.

The two eliminated candidates were both from school districts out of the state:
