TYLER, Texas (KTRE) - Four months ago, Lufkin wide receiver Jayden Nichols proudly signed to play for Texas College. Fast forward to Saturday, where he had a few practices under his belt.

Nichols says he is confident that he can help the Steers win.

“I’m a big time player. I will go up there and get it,” Nichols said. “You know, I run routes and you can rely on me to catch the ball. The ball is not coming out of my hands. If the ball touches my hands, it’s going to be caught.”

Texas College Head Coach Jerrell Jackson says Nichols is a great kid.

“He’s a great kid and he’s come a long way,” said Jackson. “He’s a big receiver that can run and he’s starting to learn and pick up things. He does a great job for us.”

Texas College will open their season against Culver Stockton on August 30.
